Somos da opinião de que ler é fundamental para o desenvolvimento do ser humano. E isso acaba fazendo de você um investidor melhor, tenha o assunto a ver com finanças ou não. Assim sendo, gostaríamos de oferecer uma indicação quinzenal da qual gostamos e achamos que seria útil.

Antes de mais nada, não me perguntem por que a moça tem o sobrenome que se traduz como “leiteiro”. Nunca entendi bem esses sobrenomes em inglês. Leite de vaca, inclusive, é um troço que provavelmente faz mal para saúde se você já tem mais de 7 anos, mas isso é uma polêmica para um outro dia!
Quebrando uma quase sequência de indicações literárias de livros antigos, vamos com um bem novo agora. A edição em português tem menos de 1 ano de publicação, e o original em inglês menos de 2.
É lugar comum que saber de algo não é suficiente para mudar seu comportamento. Pessoas com sobrepeso, em sua maioria, sabem que folhas fazem bem para saúde, mas mesmo assim costumam passar longe das alfaces. A parte que tem o conhecimento no cérebro é diferente da área em que coloca o conhecimento em ação.
Assim sendo, a autora busca ir atrás do que tende a funcionar ou não para quebra de hábitos ruins e para a conquista dos hábitos desejados. Katy é uma pesquisadora, e sempre que possível tenta embasar suas teorias com experiências acadêmicas.
O livro é leve e bem escrito. Dá para ler “em umas 5 sentadas”. De preferência mordiscando algumas folhas de alface.

Lei de Gérson é uma expressão cultural brasileira. Se você estiver conversando com um gringo e mandar um criativo “Gerson´s Law”, ele olhará para você como se louco fosse.
Lei de Gérson é uma expressão cunhada em homenagem a um comercial que foi ao ar no ano de 1976, ano esse que é um marco para a humanidade, visto ser o ano em que eu nasci.
O jogador Gérson, campeão mundial pelo Brasil em 1970, estrelava um comercial de cigarros e repetia após a deixa: "Por que pagar mais caro se o Vila me dá tudo aquilo que eu quero de um bom cigarro? Gosto de levar vantagem em tudo, certo? Leve vantagem você também, leve Vila Rica!"
Dizem que o jogador posteriormente tentou explicar que focinho de porco não era tomada, mas já era tarde demais. Ele ficou personificado na história como aquele que não se importa em passar os outros para trás. Brasileiro é esperto, brasileiro é malandro, farinha-pouca-meu-pirão-primeiro, etc.
Gérson jogou metade da carreira no Botafogo e metade no Fluminense. Mas é com o vizinho carioca, o Flamengo, que essa história continua.

Comprado a peso de ouro frente ao Olympique, time francês, Gerson é titular no meio campo quando o jogo começa. Logo aos 15 minutos o jogador vê que não vai alcançar uma bola, aproveita que está na grande área adversária e cai de maduro, na esperança de cavar um pênalti. Cartão amarelo por simulação!
No último lance do primeiro tempo, Gerson impede que o Al-Hilal faça o gol dando um pisão disfarçado, mas bem firme, no tornozelo do adversário. Eis que temos VAR... Enquanto o juiz analisa as imagens o jogador fica inconformado. Sua linguagem corporal é como seu estivesse dizendo: “Eu? Não é possível! Eu não fiz isso. Eu sou incapaz de matar uma mosca, quanto mais dar um pisão no pé do coleguinha de profissão. No momento do pênalti eu estava lá na área técnica batendo um papo com meu treinador, é só perguntar para ele: eu tenho álibi!”
O resultado todos já sabem: segundo amarelo e expulsão. Com 1 jogador a menos, seu time não resistiu e foi eliminado do mundial.
Na bolsa de valores, alguns grupinhos operam com mentalidade semelhante. Inclusive a palavra Mundial me veio à cabeça, novamente... não sei bem ao certo o porquê.
O nome técnico do ato é “Pump and Dump”. Traduzindo, algo como “Pegar e despejar”.
Um grupo de pessoas tidas como influentes compram um papel e o elogiam como se sua vida dependesse disso. Os incautos, animados com a possibilidade de ganhos rápidos, compram muito pagando qualquer preço. Até que as primeiras pessoas do grupo vendem tudo com lucro e deixam o mico na mão dos bobos.
Essa postura é lamentável. Além de ser crime. Ao estudar e comprar boas empresas, não dependemos de ninguém perder dinheiro para ser bem-sucedido. Com tempo e paciência, o investidor inteligente põe seu dinheiro para trabalhar para ele próprio, repetindo a tática durante anos a anos. Até que, um dia, começa a sobrar bastante dinheiro, que pode ser gasto com qualquer coisa. Até mesmo com uma viagem para o exterior para ver seu time do coração ser eliminado por um azarão qualquer.
